Nothing much...

I am bored. It is not due to the lack of work...but then who needs work when they can goof off? Anyway, I have postponed some very important academics related stuff and the awesome novel Shantaram to post this great quote I saw....

"The intelligence of the planet is constant....and the population is growing"

How true...

Nutty Hypotheses-Part 1

Hmm...seems everyone is going on and on about new year posts and resolutions....so, to break this trend...this is the last I will be mentioning it....

Now, back to the hypothesis. I got this inspiration back when I was a little kid who saw some cartoon whare the protagonist had an anthill or something as some kind of science project. The ants went about their jobs without any heed to the protagonist and the story went on.

Anyway, th point is...what if the earth was just a science project of some bratty old alien kiddo? And boy, is he pissed because we the humans are destroying our earth each passing day. What if the kid(not specifying a he/she) throws a tantrum and decides to stamp all over us?

Hmm...no time to follow up on that one, but I think it is good enough to send to the Kansas School Board! Now if there is anyone in the whole wide world who is utterly jobless(well, u r reading this blog and i am posting on it, so we both fall in that category), please leave some comment or something about real life phenomena that can be explained by this theory.

Till then...Adios...

P.S. If I could convince His Short-Sightedness George Bush about this theory, the U.S. would surely sign the Kyoto protocol...

The Great Indian Controversy

One of the problems of not watching television or skimming the newspaper is that one doesn't get to know about the controversies that plague the land. Now it seems pretty stupid to be posting stuff about things bygone.

For example, take the controversy about the two rupee coin with a square cross introduced at the beginning of this year. Not only haven't I seen on myself, I didn't hear anything about it from any of my mates. Now that I checked the wikipedia article on modern indian coins, I caught a reference to the controversy. It struck as quite funny that the references provided were....err....a bit on sided. Anyways, here is one of the references provided.

I especially enjoyed the following snippents...

....'Christianity-Coveting, Islam-embracing and Hindu-Hating in stance, posture, ideology, philosophy, programme and action.' //the policy of UPA

....Dr Manmohan Singh's Minority Appeasement Declaration (MAD)....

...Italian-led government...

Now I may not be an expert here...but this looks like a case of paranoia to me. Here is the hindu article on the coin.

Ahh...leave it...I am just glad that people didn't mistake it for an 'X' and start arguing that the coin should be free of the language of those treacherous Americans.

Nothing much...

Well....i am half blind now....;)

Being the proud owner of a pair of broken spectacles, I wander aimlessly in world filled to the core with visual input......Only I can manage to get my specs broken in the midst of my damn exams, on a saturday....so that shops won't be open on the next...I want to type in something funny after that....bit throbbing headache mode isnt exactly conducive to writing.....

Oh...and by the way, it seems that my blog's reading level is high school.....I wonder what sort of criterion they follow.....

Religious Extremism and Free Speech

Nowadays one gets to hear a lot about islamofascists or something like that.....especially from a bunch of Americans. It seems that some of them have such a narrow minded view of the world that they have classified the whole world into "conservative american christians" and a bunch of " "(insert random abusive word).

Here is an example of one of those guys....my knowledge about him comes from an opus cartoon and a google search which succeeded it. I am all for free speech and everything, but I think this is one of the borderline cases. What separates this guy and Hitler is that they hated different things and our friend here didn't have the resources to go on an anti-everybody else campaign.

Of course I may be completely wrong in my assessment of the guy, but anyone who sees "hidden homosexual innuendo" in Teletubbies is almost surely off his rocker...

Incidently, newspapers are so afraid of offending muslims that they didn't run two Opus cartoons. This one and the one after.

I don't blame them because during the whole Danish cartoon I saw first hand(I was in UAE then), the madness that erupted. Most shops had huge signs proclaiming that they didn't sell Danish products(even though the abysmal spelling and grammar did mar the overall effect slightly). Then there is the case of Salman Rushdie who was a victim of a virtual kill on sight order after he published Satanic Verses. Even the Catholic church erupted vehemously against the Da Vinci Code without realising that they increased the popularity of the book by giving it free publicity....

Thats one of the problems with this world, one has to be politically correct to the point of being paranoid, so as to not offend any of the other 6 billion folks in the world.........

BlogPane

I just came across this site while I was checking through my reader statistics. It is a free service that enables us to add a directory listing to our blog that lists all blogs from our college. It is kind of an RSS feed that keeps track of all alumni blogs.

It's a pretty awesome idea and I wish its perpetrators (hmm...that word makes them sound criminally inclined ;) the very best of luck.

Unfortunately I am a complete zero when it comes to Javascript. For example, I have no idea why the "SAVE NOW" button at the bottom of the screen is steadily increasing in size while I type.

So it might take me some time to figure out how the hell I am supposed to install the damn thing on my blog.............

Ahhh...the button has stopped expanding......

Update:
check out its homepage

here's a video that shows how to install it and voila! I have the plug-in on my blog as well...

New face of Patriotism

Hmm...i have just got a letter which implores all "patriotic" indians to change their orkut display pics to the Indian flag. As if it really means something...

You wanna be patriotic? Stop bad mouthing the country the other 364 days of the year....
