President of India(part two)

Well...the President of India has been elected and everything. Some obscure person got the job. Anyways as I had previously written, I guess that it doesn matter who becomes the President as the post is more of a figurehead.

Don´t get me wrong, I am happy that Pratibha Patil got the job and she shines as an example to the world how far women have come in India. What saddens me is that she was elected as President due to the sole fact that she had the backing of the majority alliance. How many of those MPs or MLAs voted for her due to her qualities? Did it matter at all to them about who the candidate was; as long as they had the backing of the leaders? Did it matter who all voted for her, when it was the opinion of the UPA heads that really mattered?

Anyways...check out this as well....

Back to College

Finally, I have reached a place where the net is free (and reasonably fast too). All my grievances as to not being able to post due an abysmal connection are coming to an end. Say welcome to the days where I will start blaming my laziness as an excuse for not posting. Anyway, its always good to be back, assuming if you ignore the after effects of an eight hour bus trip and the amount of red tape lying ahead.

Instead of asking to pay all their dues at one place, the college requires us to scurry from place to place, enquiring about the dues, paying them, getting a receipt and so on and so forth.

What am I doing here??? My token number is 344 and they have called upto some 50 now.

Meanwhile, let me sit here in the LAN, posting.........

Its gonna be a long day............

Harry Potter!!!!!!!

hmmm...the new Harry Potter book will be released today...dunno if it has already released...I am afraid to check in case there are some spoilers.....

As far as predictions go, I am predicting that the Dark Lord will be defeated because Peter Pettigrew will get cold feet or something as he is in Harry' s debt(from the third book).

If this prediction becomes true, I am going to start an astrology service.....

Orkut is Blocked!!!

Wow...the other day I was wondering about the stupidity of my ISP and was thinking about ways in which it could degrade the quality of this stinking hellhole of a miserable experience that I like to call "Browsing the net using dial up with a paranoid Big Bro proxy watching over my back".

Then, I get a call from my good friend yesterday...Of course as I spend most of my time sleeping or reading, there was a 50% chance he couldn't reach me. When he finally did, he informed me about this incident, I wasn't well too shocked as it was already blocked by the UAE University server and I figured that the trend would surely catch on. Anyway, it seems that my poor buddy was "orkutting" so as to speak, when this happened. To quote him, "one sec I was there, next sec I was not".

Ouch.....

Well, I did some meticulous research (which is an euphemism for I did a quick Google search) and found out that somebody actually feared people were using the site to find sexual partners!!!

Now I don't deny that the claim is 100% false, but come on...whats next? Will they ban mobile phones coz guys and girls who aren't married will use it to talk with each other? Or destroy television sets coz they can be used to...I don't know, "culturally inappropriate material"?

On a funnier note, it seems orkut can still be accessed from the Media City and all iZones (the wireless hotspots in UAE are called iZones). I smell a conspiracy here, Etisalat is tired of its new rival Du, slowly but surely taking a good chunk out of the mobile services sector. So, I think it is trying to force more and more people to take other costlier services so that they can maintain their exorbitant profits.

Damn...I am in a bad mood now....

Whoopsidaisy....

Hmm...its been a really long time...got sidetracked by my flourishing schedule....

Needless to say...I'll be back...(Terminator Style)...

err..I meant to say, I am back....
